happy birthday bapa eman!


well, today used to be your birthday. and each year we still celebrate the day, even without you here with us. we used to go out and eat somewhere with the whole big family. yes, your children, your grandchildren. emah always had plans, either on where to go, or what to cook. but now, that she's also gone, no one's left here to be able to get all of us together and do something together again, like the old days.

i miss you bapa, i miss emah too. i'll always remember you both. i'll always love you. i really miss having both of you around. things are just so different now.

you know, mom always say that whenever i cried, and you picked me up, i'd stop crying right away. i really could use one of your magic hugs right now, granddaddy :(

woke up at 2, when i was supposed to meet my cousin. so i rushed to the shower and finally met my cousin. went to another cousin's house cz her mother-in-law passed away. first time ever that i've been to a chinese funeral. i didn't see the mother-in-law. i didn't want to. just saw the coffin and that was enough to make me nauseous the whole time a was there. everybody wore white, so did i. my cousin start telling me the story on how her mother-in-law died. a bloody reckless driver hit her and she was flung 10 metres away. every few minutes i kept on moving my eyes towards her coffin. scared, i was. not because she was there, not anymore. scared of how i was reminded once again, that God can grab your life, anytime, in a flick of a finger, just like that. one minute she was fine, healthy, and living. the other, she's gone, just like that. i kept asking to myself 'what if i was her?'.

i just finished watching the movie 'LOVE'. i seriously don't know what to say about the movie. i wept the whole time. (..well, no, not the whole time) but seriously, believe me, the movie's worth watching.

ah yes, that was a piece of thread i've picked from my conversation just a few minutes ago. can somebody please tell me how to be focused on one thing? one thing you're supposed to do, if you don't do it you'll die! (ok, lebay) no seriously, i can't seem to ever focus on what i'm doing. this one minute i'm so excited to do something, the next minute i'm off doing doing other things. i'm easily distracted. i'm the best procrastinator you'll ever know. argh!

i'm in a msn convo with one of my bests, mikel. he randomly suggested something for us to do later when everybody's here permanently. his idea was for each of us to collect some amount of money, and to randomly give that money to one of us, every month. stupidly funny. it could be fun, especially for ones who'll be getting the money. but what if we end up not getting any for months! haha. super random. hmmm, i think i'll start writing a list of things i'll be getting with the money. hahaa! stupit lo mike!

yep, went there today. flea flo fly fun! err, wasn't too fun actually. maybe cz i compared it with zouk's flea just a week ago. proof of it would be, let's see, i bought two shirts, and both are from the same stall, which are my friends'! haa! bought junk food long-sleeved shirt for $15. thanks fefe! went to paisley&cream afterwards, waited for the rain to stop, then i went home. the rest of the day was a tad bit boring. i was home alone. hey, wait, no i wasn't! i skyped with my boyfriend the whole time ;) oh ohh, good news! my boyf's coming to town! late octoberish. woohoo! keeping my fingers crossed for the availability of the ticketsss! so, yeah, today was okay. considering the fact that i got 2 new shirts and that smashing news from my boyf!


i still miss my boyf, i miss my mom, i miss my brothers, i (kind of) miss daddy, i miss home.

it was raining hard the whooole day. didn't move a bit from the couch. no sungei road today. probably tomorrow. after the flea market by the riverside. ppffttt.

i can't sleep. it's 1.17 am. well, i never usually sleep at this time anyway, i guess that's why. my mind keeps telling me not to sleep just yet. argh.

i'm missing my boyfriend so badly, all of a sudden. we had this really fun midnight talk on the phone yesterday. planned on sleeping, so i head on to my room, still on the phone with him. we were starting to say our goodnights, sent each other virtual kisses and hugs, and the next thing we knew, it's almost 4 hours since we started talking on the phone. endless laughters were all there is. "it feels like i'm in love with you for the first time", he said. yes baby, me too, i think i've fallen in love with you all over again.

i know i've been such a bitch lately. i'm superbly sorry for that. i promise, i'll change. i'll make you want me even more ;) i love you dearest viki. thank you for the 17 months full of happiness you've given me. lets wish ourself a happy future ahead, shall we? can't wait to see you next month.

umm, i really don't know where to start. i've so many things i want right now. oh how i wish i was a teenage billionaire. (haha, dream on) argh. my birthday have passed and i don't celebrate christmas. so there's no way i'm getting these things from someone. oh well, here it goes.

1. POLAROID 600 FILMS
please please please pleaseeeeee anybody selling their films? do contact me. i want loads and loads of filmssss!

2. BBF camera from superheadz
weird name huh? unattractive i should say. well, it stands for 'blackbird, fly' (..even weirder). it's a new camera from superheadz. it has just been released to the market this august! and i think for now they're only selling in Japan. so i told my cousin who's staying there til Sept to check out the price and all. you should all take a look at the camera. [link] really, it's too cool. it's kind of a hasselblad look-alike, yet it's not a medium format camera. it takes the usual 35mm film. and i believe the camera's hassle-free! (get it? hassle? hasselblad? :p)

3. horizon perfekt/kompakt
oh my, i've been wanting one of these since last year. but shit, they're just too damn expensive :(:(:( would someone lend me theirs?

4. LOAAAAAADS of expired 120&35mm films!
so, you'd think 'why not go for non-expired films?'oh certainly, i want loads of them too. but comparing to expired ones, on price, surely i'd go for the expired ones as they're far cheaper! and to the quality of the pictures? hey i'm try'na shoot lomography here, nobody knows how they'll turn out to be like anyways. and expired films even add this vintage look to the picture. so, why go for the new, when the olds are there for a better bargain? ;) so please ppl, if any of you reading this plans on selling their expired films, go and comment me. i'd be most interested. thank you :)

5. last but not least, my mom and brothers being here with me during fasting month :'(
i've asked my mom and the answer's a negative. she can't come cz she has to go to work. even if she can, she can't bring my brothers as they're not on holiday. and if my mom flies away here leaving my brothers at home, they'll not fast, cz the only way they'd wake up early in the morning to have the early breakfast is by my mom waking them up. so, i guess this will be the second year i pass the fasting month without my family. without being at home. you have no idea how sad it feels deep down inside :'(:'(:'(

i guess i better end this post,or i'll be crying my tears out!

eyh wait, something interesting happened just hours ago. me and icah opened our piggy bank that we've been putting our extra cashes into for almost a year. and guess how much we've earned? $53.80! whoaaaaahh!

ok, so in the past two weeks i've been having this weird craving for turkish food. i've been searching for websites talking about them, and as i told you in my last post, i found a restaurant at bussorah street called alaturka. i went there twice, and both visits were satisfying. i ordered the beyti kebab and something pideler (i can't recall the name of the dish), it's a turkish pizza, with lamb and cheese topping. both dishes were suuuuper good! especially the beyti kebab. the meat's a mix of lamb and beef. the sauce drizzled all over it is sort of tomato-ish, errr idk how to describe it. and they also serve it with this youghurt-based sauce in the middle of the plate. seriously, must try! after i went there twice, i've just discovered from some food reviews that the baklava there was soooo good. i'll go and try it next time.

just today, again, i wanted turkish kebabs. almost tried the small restaurant at haji lane, but didn't have enough cash and there were no atms nearby, so i walked towards bugis junction. then i remembered that there's this turkish restaurant next to my campus, called sofra. i called my friend who i knew would be in campus. and so i went to sofra with him. there was also a beyti kebab on the menu, so i ordered it as i wanted to compare it with the one in alaturka. haha. and we also ordered chef platter (a platter containing chicken, lamb, and beef meat. also a turkish bread), oh and not to forget this time, we ordered baklava! the food came, and our first impression was 'whoa! such a small portion'. the pieces of beyti kebab were like tiny compared to the one in alaturka. after we had our first bite, immediately we said 'definitely, alaturka's better'. (hey, no offense sofra, but no kidding, you should try alaturka yourselves!) but i should give sofra some credit for their chef platter. they're gooood! ok, so we're done with our main dishes. it's time for the baklava. when it landed on our table, our first reaction was simply dropping our jaws. there were 2 pieces of the baklava on the plate, and the size, omgggggg, sooooo tiny! and the taste? too sweet and nutty. well, i've never had baklava before, so i didn't really know what to expect. argh but still, i don't think they should've been that sweet! next, the bill came. $48.50... okayyy, even more jaw-dropping. far more expensive than alaturka. conclusion? never will be coming back to sofra. definitely will go often to alturka :D (sorry sofra :()


errr, i think i'll be turning this blog into a food review kind of blog. haha so funny. i'll probaby do this once in a while tho.

updates updates! it's been a month since my last post. so here goes the updates :

i've turned 17 on july 9th! woohooo!
okay, i know, sad right? my friends are mostly legally 18, yet i've just turned 17! ha! well, i loved that day! it was so much better than my 16th, definitely. last year, my birthday was first day of college, i knew nobody in class, and to top things off, my mom and brothers left me for hongkong. shitty, eh? this year, mommy and my brother was here, as well as my friends, who gave me a lil surprise ;) thanks peeps. loves!

yes yes, lots of em went here :D it was fuuuun. it's like when someone went back home, the next day someone else would come. no, seriously. lucky us, singapore's a jump away from jakarta :p

a stroll down haji lane
last wednesday, i had an adveturous day along haji lane, arab street, and a bit of city hall. went there alone at first as i wanted to just walk around randomly hoping i'd find something interesting. but then icha was around, so i asked her to join me. we went into all shops along haji lane. i got a shirt, she got two. and then we went to bussorah street (.. if i'm not mistaken, that is). wanting to try turkish food so badly, i found an interesting looking restaurant called alaturka. we then went in and ordered straight away. a kebab and a turkish pizza to share. the taste? exactly what i wanted! authentic tasting kebab. loved it! even went there again 2 days after that with daud. too bad we didn't get to try the baklava cz we were just too full. should go there another time and definitely will order the baklava :9 oh, oh, pictures from my fe2 coming up. developing them tmrw :D

just got them today. passed all 5 subjects :) yayy!

well, that's abt it. of course there's loads more. but it'll take me the whole day to write every single detail of them. it's 12.30 am by the way. i'm so tired yet i'm not sleepy yet. shits. i really need a good night sleep. i'll probably go off to bed in a bit. i'll update again soon. til then..
